Congratulations! Passing your Module 5 theory exam brings you closer to driving solo. With phase 1 done and your Attestation of Successful Completion, it’s time to visit the SAAQ for your learner's licence (Class 5).

Book Your SAAQ Appointment

Book an appointment at an SAAQ outlet to pay fees, take your vision test, and have your photo taken for your new licence.

What to Bring to Your SAAQ Appointment

You must bring specific original documents to prove your identity and legal presence in Canada. You need two pieces of official identification, and one of them must have a photo.

If you were born in Canada at least one of the two documents must be:

• Original copy of the birth certificate issued by the Directeur de l’état civil du Quebec after January 1, 1994, or by the government body responsible for vital statistics in another Canadian jurisdiction

• A Canadian Citizenship Certificate with a photo

• A Canadian passport

• An official Canadian Armed Forces identity card

• A Certificate of Indian Status

The other document may be:

• A health insurance card

• A driver’s license issued outside of Quebec

If you were not born in Canada at least one of the two documents must be:

• A Canadian Citizenship Certificate with a photo

• A Canadian passport

• Other proof of known legal residence in Canada

• A Permanent Residence Card

• An official Canadian Armed Forces identity card

The other document may be:

• A health insurance card

• A driver’s license issued outside of Quebec

Checklist for the Day of Your SAAQ Appointment:

• Attestation of Successful Completion of Phase 1 from Desire Driving School.

• Two pieces of acceptable original ID (see above).

• Parental consent if you are under 18 (a form is available under the SAAQ tab of our website).

• Payment for the learner's licence fee.

Once you complete this appointment, you will officially be issued your learner's licence. Please remember to inform us so we can begin planning your on-road lessons with an instructor.
